I found a short article (which has some good links to resources) which covers some lesser known PTSD treatments. A couple of them I’ve covered already on this site, but there are others that I really never even thought of, so I’ll have to look into them in the future.
The 4 PTSD treatments it covers are:
- CBD (Cannabidiol) oil – which can help reduce anxiety
- Dong Quai – dubbed “female ginseng” can help reduce anxiety, depression and stress
- Emotional Support Animals – service animals can be exceptionally helpful with managing PTSD
- Yoga/Meditation – mindfulness and calm can help manage many of the awful symptoms of PTSD
Keeping in mind that these are tools in the toolbox and should not be used in isolation. It is through multiple avenues of approach that we can reach the goal of recovery. So, keeping a healthy and productive combination of treatments will get us there down the road.
It’s estimated that 8 percent of Americans have post-traumatic stress disorder. That amounts to more than 24 million people, and members of the military aren’t the only ones who suffer from this mental health issue. There is no cure for PTSD, but there are ways to minimize the effects of the symptoms, some of which you might not have been aware of.
